There are so many wonderful quotes in this book. Some are about love, others about cherishing the moment; but all of them are touching. Here are some of my favorite quotes from "Second Chance Summer" by Morgan Matson.
“A thousand moments that I had just taken for granted- mostly because I had assumed that there would be a thousand more.”
This quote means a lot to me personally and also to the book. What is being said here is that we can't just live life assuming that it will never end. We all know that everyone dies, including us, though often people, especially teenagers, think that nothing bad can ever happen to them. We need to live in the moment because we may not get another.

“I kept thinking back to all those nights in Connecticut, when I was out the door as soon as dinner was over, yelling my plans behind me as I headed to my car, ready for my real night to begin—my time with my family just something to get through as quickly as possible. And now that I knew that the time we had together was limited, I was holding on to it, trying to stretch it out, all the while wishing I’d appreciated what I’d had earlier.”
At this time in the story, Taylor is regretting not spending more time with her family before things went south. It's important to the plot because before Taylor's dad was given 3 months to live, she never really spent time with her parents or any of her family. Now she is realizing that she has to make up for all of the memories she can in 3 months because she took them for granted when everything was okay.

“But one thing that I was learning about what happened when you stuck around—it usually seemed that other people were willing to stick by you as well.”
When I read this quote I was reminded of one of my favorite quotes by Oscar Wilde, "Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you." Then I sat there and thought about the quote in its relativity to the plot of "Second Chance Summer". At this point, Taylor is questioning whether or not to quit her newly started job because her ex-best friend is working at the same snack bar and being cruel to Taylor. Instead of quitting she pushes on and soon Taylor and Lucy resolve their problems and become friends again.

“And I've realized that the Beatles got it wrong. Love isn't all we need—love is all there is.”
This quote really stuck with me. Without love, we would have nothing, we would be nothing. Without love we would live an awful, lonely and depressed life. Love carries us through the hard times and rejoices us in the good times. Taylor realizes this too when she is thinking about all she left behind when she stopped visiting their summer home and about losing her father.

“Just because you'd left something behind didn't mean that it had gone anywhere.”
Taylor left a lot behind when she stopped coming to the Pocono Mountains: her best friend, boyfriend, house and memories; but when she returns, she finds that they hadn't left and they weren't broken without her. When she comes back, Lucy and Henry are still there and so is her house. They've grown and changed but all three are virtually the same and it seems, maybe even better off without her.
