The setting in "Second Chance Summer" is very important to the plot. This book takes place at the Edwards' summer house in the Pocono Mountains in Pennsylvania. The family used to spend every summer here when the children were younger but their summers quickly became filled with dance rehearsal, science camps, and getting ahead on the summer reading for college. After finding out that their dad has only 3 months to live, the Edwards family decides to spend their last months together at their old summer home. The last time Taylor was here she had broken up with her boyfriend and said goodbye to her best friend (but its not that simple). When she returns, everything has changed. The setting and it's memories are extremely important to the theme because things are majorly different back at the Edwards' home in Connecticut. The summer home comes to hold fine memories, not only of the kids' childhood, but also their last memories of their father.
